Rant: No Self Respect!

I saw a good quote on Tumblr the other day, I'm going to see if I can remember it to start this post with:

'When you say "you have no self respect",
You really mean "I have no respect for you".
Don't assume you know how people feel about themselves.'

I think that was it.

(Speaking of Tumblr, I'm answering questions again - anonymous are accepted. Click HERE)

I am subscribed to Trisha Paytas on Youtube, I just really like how girly she is and she loves Hello Kitty, she's pretty much Gyaru in a way:
- Tan
- Blonde Hair
- Nose Contour
- 3-D Nails
- False Eyelashes
- Decoden

She even dressed as a 'Ganguro' once!:
People were saying terrible things about her here but I actually think she looked great!

Although I might not have the same opinions as her on certain subjects, I repect her opinion and I do like to listen to different views on life other than my own. I don't understand people who are subscribed to someone and they unsubscribe if they have a different opinion! I see it all the time, like this:

'I like all of your videos, but I hate you for saying Halloween is better than Christmas. Unsubscribed now.'

Woops, anyway - back to my origional rant!

So, I was watching a video of hers, here it is for anyone wondering:

Most people were saying how they hate her for having no self respect (which doesn't make sense at all. How can you hate someone for not respecting themselves? Surely if you don't respect yourself, you're self conscious. How can you hate someone for being self conscious?).

But, the thing is, I have seen absolutely no evidence that she has no self-respect. Self respect is respecting yourself (obviously!). I think people think self respect means respecting society's ideals for you.

If she is 'outrageous', 'slutty', 'contradicting', etc, then surely she wouldn't be respecting herself if she suppressed all of that to look/act just like everyone else!

Another thing is that, in the video she was drunk and acting silly/talking promiscuously, that's where a lot of the hate came from (I thought the video was really funny and cute!). I ask you to do one thing, imagine it was a guy in that video. I bet there would be no controversy involved! Guys are allowed to get drunk and act silly, but if a girl does it then "She has no self respect" and she's a "Train Wreck"! Females are conditioned to believe alcohol/sex/etc is for men to enjoy, females have to 'save' their bodies for one man. Here is another quote that I'll try to remember:

'Virginity was invented by men who thought their penis was so important it changed who a woman is'

When people see a promiscuous girl, they assume she's been taken advantage of by lots of different men. They say it's a 'serious, saddening issue' - isn't it possible she just enjoys it?

As a girl who covers up and speaks politely most of the time, I can still respect the opinions of girls like Trisha. Even though, actually, I get called slutty sometimes just for wearing a lot of makeup!

Those who preach 'self respect' to others should start with just 'respect'. People need to respect each other. We're all different, and it makes the world more interesting. I believe people should be able to do whatever they want (as long as it harms no one and no thing).

I'm going to end this post how it started, because this quote is pretty much my whole 'rant' put into 3 lines:

'When you say "you have no self respect",
You really mean "I have no respect for you".
Don't assume you know how people feel about themselves.'

  6. I like Trish but some of the things she says makes me cringe like hell. Her political views are batshit too. I don't get her. Maybe it's just for views.

    1. Perhaps. There are a lot of things that I don't share her opinion on too. I don't know much about America or American politics though so I don't really have much of an opinion on that! <3

  8. I wish there would be more poeple like you out there! I agree with you in every way. Most people are jealous and they do express it with hate...so sad. They think they talk big and throwing big words to other pepole without knowing for what those words really stand.
Thanks for this great post! :-*

  9. You're right, I really cannot stand the double standard in this society concerning gender roles. It's really upsetting. I personally am not a fan of hers for a few other reasons not mentioned in your post but the difference between me is that I'm judging that off of the content of her character, not anything as trivial as dressing and acting how she wants. Either way she's free to believe in whatever she wants to so I'm not completely mad at her like some of these folks are. People need to serious calm down...it's not that serious XD lol!

I agree though, I always say that! People take trivial things too seriously, their life may just pass them by! <3

  12. Showing your breasts to the world is indecent exposier. Low self esteem for sure. Not everyone wants to see someones breasts, it's not fair for people to expose themselves when a person walking by has no choice but to see what is exposed in front of them. That is disrespectful, and inconsiderate on the part of the person exposing themselves, but it's more than that, it's about begging for attention, and the wrong kind. In some countries, women are stoned to death for walking around baring their non-mentionables, in America it's allowed, but yet you can not shop in a store without shoes or a shirt wether you are male or female....but somehow, many women walk around exposing their breasts except the nipple, and they let their butts hang out of their tiny shirts, or wear skin tight clothes, which is basically like showing your body off. Who does this? People asking for the wrong kind of attention. If a person wants to beg for people to crave for their body, what does that say about them? This is the problem with hollywood today, brainwashing people to think that is all they are worth. It is a problem of self respect, and respect of others, as well as self worth, and self esteem. If a person cares about respecting the feelings of others, they won't walk around half naked, if they respect themselves, they will see they are worth more then that and will not sell themselves short by baring all. A man will see a women as a attractive at first that way, but would not want to marry a woman who bares her body to the whole world, unless they don't really love her or are marrying her for some other reason. A man wants his woman to keep what's private in private, not to bare what is his to the world. That is why Trish can not get a respectable man to go out with her. They see her as something to look at only, because she leaves no mystery, nothing to the imagination.

    1. Yeah, I get what you mean. I always assumed it was normal in the western world though (and parts of Asia, like Japan, of course). So, unfortunately, I'm guilty of showing cleavage some times too! I felt weird about it at first, but it felt kind of good too. I hope to show my arms and legs some day, but I'll always have your point of view in the back of my mind - not because of what men think though, I don't agree with you on that part. Not many females I know dress for men to want to marry them, they dress for themselves. <3

    2. Thank you for your reply and for what you said. I was only making my point about men because Trish is always complaining that she can not find a decent guy to go out with her, that all of the men she finds are creeps and only want just sex and then leave her. I wasn't really saying that it was only what men think that matters. I am a woman. I know many women repulsed by other women walking around half naked. It makes women seem like meat instead of a person with depth. A lot of girls immulate what they see on TV and videos, especially younger girls. I never really saw you that way personally, but there are indeed many young girls showing so much flesh and acting out in a slutty way, it makes them look bad and it's bad for women in general. There is too much exploitation of women on TV, movies, and video, which is why I rarely watch television and am very selective of the films I watch. I'm not saying that all woman should walk on eggshells, but why give the bandits power to shut us down and call women whores. If we take back our self respect and show that we are so much more, then everything else will have no choice to reflect that, and those who choose to ignore it are simply acting ignorant. I happen to think you are pretty respectable.

    3. Ah, I really find your way of thinking interesting - you have such a strong opinion! You have an extremely valid argument too. I agree 100% about women in the media. I constantly complain about that to my boyfriend! Haha >_< A good quote is "You can't look like those women in the magazine, not even those women in the magazines look like those women in the magazines!".

I think they should stop using womens bodies to sell things - they use female bodies as if they were a pedestal or a backdrop to make their products look more alluring. So yeah, I really do agree with you!

      And thank you! <3

    5. Oh yeah, you are so right about the women in the magazines, they are all airbrushed. It's the industry's fault, the women who do those ads succomb to it because they want to feel important, and they want the money. It's too bad they don't know they were already important before they got the job.

    6. I read your comment and I have something to say. I have an issue with the way women dress. But not beautiful skinny girls with their tits out, but fat disgusting girls with bed hair who assault my eyes every morning on the train.
I hear a lot about "who wants to see a pair of boobs when they're just walking around" well a find that a large amount of the people saying that are fat. And excuse me, but who likes to be greeted by four sets of back tits on an escalator? If I have to see that, then some girl with perky tits and a nice butt should be allowed to walk around half naked. If someone thinks bad of her, no one cares. If a model wants to do an add half naked then that's fine too. Personal choice does NOT only apply to fat girls who want to feel pretty. Skinny girls are people too and if they want to dress like that then fine. They can see people gossiping about them and clearly they don't care so leave it.

Personal choice is personal and I don't think anyone has ANY right to say who is allowed to bare what. If you're allowed to have seconds then she's allowed to buy a mini skirt.

Women are NOT objects who can be told what to do so stop belittling your sex by slut shaming. If we all dress like that then one day it won't be so wild.

In Japan. Mini skirts are worn by everyone under the age of 45. I see girls walking around at the age of 9 in makeup and heels. They're smiling and happy. And you know what. That's all that matters.

If you find yourself disgusted at an outfit, more than likely its jealousy that you can't fit into it yourself.
